Calculations and information on your device

Calculations run on your device. App preferences, favorite calculators, and document settings are stored locally. Reference documents you download are also stored on your device. The app does not provide a user account or cloud synchronization. The AI preference setting does not connect an AI service or send your information to one.

Opening the Computer Science IP section or IP addresses screen reads local interface addresses and automatically checks your public IPv4 address through api.ipify.org over HTTPS. That provider receives your connection address; local interface addresses are not sent. The app does not save or log these addresses. Copying an address places it on the system clipboard.

Pro purchases

Google Play processes Pro payments; the app does not collect payment-card details. To unlock or restore Pro, the app sends the product identifier and Google Play purchase token over HTTPS to our Supabase verification service, which checks ownership with Google. This is required for Pro access and is separate from optional analytics.

On Android, a previously verified token and verification time are stored encrypted on this installation, excluded from backups, to allow up to seven days of offline access. An online check renews access or removes it after revocation. The local record is removed when revocation is confirmed or app data is cleared; uninstalling removes it. Provider operational logs follow their separate retention processes.

Usage analytics

Usage analytics is optional, starts only after you allow it, and helps us improve Engineers Companion. It can be turned off in Settings. When enabled, the app sends a random installation identifier, session start and approximate duration, and the names of modules and tools opened. It does not collect calculation inputs or results, contact information, advertising IDs, or hardware IDs. Turning analytics off stops future events and removes the locally stored identifier; events already received remain for up to 180 days. Analytics events are processed and stored in Supabase, then deleted by a daily cleanup. Provider logs and backups follow their separate retention processes.

Optional feedback

If you send feedback, we receive the category and message you enter, including any reproduction steps, along with the app version and platform. The server adds a record identifier and time. We use this information to review reports and suggestions and improve the app. Please do not include passwords, confidential work information, or sensitive personal information.

Feedback is processed and stored using Supabase. An anti-abuse system also stores a fingerprint of the message/category and receipt time to limit duplicate and excessive submissions. Expired anti-abuse receipts are removed during subsequent requests; feedback messages are not automatically removed after that period.

Connections and other services

Online requests use HTTPS. Servers handling these requests receive connection information, such as an IP address, and may retain operational or security logs. The app does not add an advertising identifier or device identifier to feedback.

Downloading reference documents contacts the document publisher. Opening an external reference or the optional support link takes you to another service. Those services handle information under their own privacy policies. PayPal processes optional contributions; the app does not collect your payment-card details. Contributions do not unlock app features.

Storage and your choices

Sending feedback is optional. Feedback is retained for 180 days or deleted sooner. A daily cleanup removes records older than 180 days, so automatic deletion normally occurs at the next daily run after that period. Contact the address above about stored feedback, including enough detail to identify the submission. No user account or submission identifier is returned by the app, so locating a message may require its approximate date and text.

You can remove downloaded documents using the available app controls. Clearing the app's storage removes its local preferences and downloaded files. This does not remove feedback already sent to the server or copies managed by other services or device backups. Provider logs and backups follow their separate retention processes.
